Dering Joins ServiceBench as Chief Executive Officer

Fairfax, VA ... February 24, 2003 – ServiceBench, Inc., a growing company that provides a suite of Web-based applications that streamline communications and boost the efficiency of service delivery among manufacturers, parts distributors, and service providers, today announced the appointment of Michael Dering as president and chief executive officer. With more than 25 years of experience in the technology industry, Dering is recognized as a distinguished information technology leader. Dering comes to ServiceBench with an outstanding track record of successes, having served as CEO at both venture-funded and publicly held companies.

According to John Estrada, ServiceBench's co-founder who will continue with ServiceBench as its Chairman & Chief Product Officer, "Michael brings the leadership and expertise necessary to expand into additional markets and address organizational challenges as ServiceBench continues its rapid growth from startup to established company."

Prior to working at ServiceBench, Dering served as president and CEO of CrossAccess Corporation, a multi-national venture-funded software infrastructure company that focuses on integrating corporate business functions with new e-business applications. Dering drove the company's strategy for both international and domestic expansion as well as spearheaded several new strategic partnerships.

Prior to joining CrossAccess, Dering served as president and CEO of two Bell & Howell companies. Under Dering's leadership, Bell & Howell Mail and Messaging Technologies (MMT) doubled its profits and grew its revenue to $500 million while cultivating a broad customer base that included telecommunications carriers. At Bell & Howell Publishing Services Division (PSC), Dering launched its European operation and implemented a focused sales program that resulted in increased market share.

Previously, Dering had a 20-year career at TAB Products Company, a $170 million publicly traded manufacturer of information storage and retrieval solutions for office environments. He initially served in a variety of sales and marketing positions and, in his last five years, he was TAB's president and CEO, helping turn around the company and making it the dominant industry leader.

Dering holds a B.S. in Business Administration and Computer Science from the University of Maryland.
